St Catherine of Alexandria Men's Club

"Rooted In Faith, Family, and Friendship"

Our 500-plus member Club has been active at St. Catherine’s for more than 25 years, and our Mission is as follows:

• To foster, encourage and promote Catholic and Christian principles, philosophies, and ethics among the Parish community.

• To provide social activities for the enjoyment of the organization members and parish.

• To assist the parish and the community when called upon and when able.

All men above the age of twenty-one who are registered parishioners and/or reside within the boundaries of our parish are eligible for membership in our organization.

We meet in Kane Hall (the basement of the school) on the first Thursday of each month from September until June (i.e. we don’t have meetings in July or August). Our meetings begin at 8:00 p.m., and usually run until about 9:00 or 9:30 p.m., at which time our members socialize, play cards, smoke cigars, watch TV, etc.

In addition to our monthly meetings, the Men’s Club organizes and runs (or plays significant roles in) many activities and events. Some of these include:

• Sports Night Fundraiser (Feb)

• NCAA Final Four Party (Mar)

• Easter Food Drive

• Parish Carnival (Jun)

• Golf Outing (Jun)

• Softball League (Jun-Sep)

• Family Outing to White Sox Game (Aug)

• Parish Family Picnic (Aug)

• New Member Drive Party (Aug)

• Basketball League (Nov-Mar)

• Thanksgiving Food Drive

• Christmas Party with spouses/girlfriends (Dec)

Beyond all of this, there is always something informal being organized by our members, which isn’t surprising for a group of almost 500 men. And even if the events listed above don’t interest you, the Men’s Club is an excellent way to meet your neighbors.

With our annual dues only $30, we believe you would be hard-pressed to find a better value for your hard-earned dollar. Especially when you consider that our fund-raising efforts have resulted in almost $400,000 in donations to the school, the parish, and various charities over the last 25 years.

Please feel free to come to our next meeting to see what it’s like. Don’t worry about signing up or paying dues - just take the time to see what we do and meet some of our members.
